Write for Suomi News

Suomi News is a shared platform for Finland’s diverse communities: immigrants, expats, second-generation Finns, and anyone invested in the multicultural story of this country. By contributing your articles and stories, you can share your experiences, perspectives, and insights with our growing readership.

You can also submit news tips and community announcements. News submissions are typically published within 1–3 days, while op-ed articles, blogs, and essays may take up to 7 days for review. Please note that we are unable to publish all submissions we receive.

All submissions to Suomi News should be written in English. You may use AI tools to support your writing (for example: outlining, grammar improvement, translation support, or idea generation), but the final piece must reflect a clear human perspective and distinct authorial voice. We’re not looking for generic, fully AI-produced arguments. Your lived experience, insight, and originality are what make the contribution valuable.

What Topics Can You Write About?

Whether you are a local Finn or have moved here from abroad, we want to hear your story. We are looking for pieces that touch on any aspect of life in Finland, from politics and society to the personal journey of maintaining a connection with your roots.

We are particularly interested in submissions that explore Finnish society, politics, and culture, as well as the immigrant experience and transnational ties.

Your writing may touch on:

  • Life as an immigrant in Finland – navigating systems, building community, everyday experiences
  • Memories and reflections on your home country – culture, traditions, and personal stories
  • Multicultural Finland – identity, belonging, and the evolving Finnish society
  • Community issues – topics affecting immigrant and minority communities
  • A deep dive into Finnish society – From political shifts to cultural trends: a comprehensive look at the issues shaping modern Finland.

Personal style welcome: Your voice, your perspective, your expression. There are no deadlines for submissions.

What Types of Content Do We Accept?

We welcome a variety of formats:

  • Opinion pieces (Op-Eds): Share your views on current issues affecting contemporary Finland
  • Blog posts: Personal reflections, commentary, and observations
  • Literary works: Short stories, poetry, travel diaries, and other forms of creative writing
  • Photo & video stories/essays: Visual storytelling with accompanying captions or narrative
