Top 10 Foods Finland Ordered in 2025

While global flavors are widely available, new delivery data shows that residents in Finland are sticking to familiar classics and weekend comfort as grocery and dining habits stabilize.

The humble cheeseburger has solidified its position as the king of Finnish takeout, leading a list of top ten dishes that suggest a strong preference for familiar comfort over culinary risk.

According to 2025 data from the delivery platform Foodora, the cheeseburger was the most-ordered single item not only in Finland but across Europe. This consistency reflects a broader trend of “safe” ordering among residents who prefer established favorites over trying new establishments.

The Top 10 Most Ordered Foods in Finland

The following dishes dominated delivery orders between October 2024 and October 2025:

  1. Pizza
  2. Burger
  3. Sandwich
  4. Chinese food
  5. Kebab
  6. Mexican food
  7. Chicken wings
  8. Sushi
  9. Nepalese food
  10. Indian food

Conservative Dining Habits

Finnish residents are notably cautious when it comes to exploring new flavors. On average, customers in Finland tried only three new restaurants over the past year.

By comparison, residents in Austria were more adventurous, trying an average of five new eateries in the same period. This suggests that while international residents have many options, the local market remains driven by brand and flavor loyalty.

Sunday has emerged as the most popular day for ordering food in Finland. The busiest month for deliveries was March, while late-night orders peaked in the major urban hubs of Helsinki, Tampere, and Turku.

Even on holidays, the demand for delivery remains high. The first European order of 2025 was placed in Rauma, Finland, just 24 seconds after midnight, consisting of a kebab with fries and a Muumi soda.

Grocery Delivery Trends

Beyond prepared meals, residents are increasingly using delivery apps for essential groceries. Fresh produce leads the way, with cucumbers and bananas taking the top two spots for the most-ordered grocery items.

The top grocery basket items also include:

  • Pepsi Max (1.5L double packs)
  • Free-range eggs
  • Minced meat (pork and beef)
  • Lactose-free and standard milk

Although food price inflation in Finland slowed to 0.5% in 2024, overall food costs remain approximately 20% higher than they were in 2021.

The Finnish delivery market is a duopoly shared by Wolt and Foodora. With Wolt holding an estimated 70โ€“80% market share, the fact that both companies reported the cheeseburger as their #1 item confirms a deep-seated national preference that transcends specific platforms.
